Your online guide to Nick White, Technical
Training Specialist
Expert professional training in technical subjects
PROFILE OF EXPERIENCE
After a Chemical Physics degree at Bristol University I
trained as a Physics teacher before entering the computer industry as
a trainer for Honeywell at their Customer Training Centre. After three
years I joined Scicon (a software house) for eighteen months as an Analyst/Programmer
then Project Leader. After travelling in South East Asia I joined PHH
where I worked as a trainer for five years, initially full-time and then
on a freelance basis.
I have been working as a freelance trainer/developer since
1991 with both business and private clients. As well as developing and
delivering training courses I have successfully completed several development
projects for local and national companies including Computer Telephony
Integration of a PC-based PBX with a LAN based database.
For seven years I ran the European courses arranged by Clarent/ACT
Networks to teach their resellers' engineers how to configure their integrated
Frame Relay Access Devices. These were extremely well-received by
the students. I also presented these courses in California.
I've been based in Toulouse since 2008 and have also run courses in
English as a Foreign Language having obtained my TEFL certificate.
I've run courses as lectures, tutorials, practical workshops
and using presentation software.
I have a very good level of French (DALF C1 83.5%). I also have some knowledge of German and
was pleased to find I could converse socially whilst in Germany for Clarent/ACT
Networks.

comments - Clarent/ACT
Comment from student on (my) first ACT course:
'After five years I can (at last) understand
IP subnetting
thank you'
Email received from a (German) student:
'Nick, Thank you again for the great Training
time in Zwingenberg.
It has been very interesting for me and I have learnt a lot about ACT Netperformer
It was a very good decision from ACT to choose a professional trainer for
this training than to do this by a system engineer.
Other comments from Clarent courses:
[The trainer was] Top quality! Good labs
H. Hovine
Patient with us and enriched the training
with practical exercises and configurations.
G. Theodosiou-Segreda
Nick is very positive, sharp and in tune
with the people in the class.
Tommy Lewis
The instructor is very knowledgable in the
product line and very respondent to all our questions.
D. R. Tate
Comments from other courses - mostly MS Office:
I particularly liked Nick White's friendly, approachable
manner and his ability to make a potentially daunting and confusing subject
readily assimilable.
K. Davies
Nick was very approachable and willing to answer
questions.
C. Hampler
The course was very much 'hands on', well presented
and with good content.
J. Smedley
Discussion was encouraged, however this did not
prevent us from completing the programme. I particularly liked the 'hands-on'
approach - I was able to learn from numerous mistakes.
J. M. Cliff
A very worthwhile course, extremely well presented.
T. Bignall
Excellent tutor, patient and very understanding.
J. Hicks
Tutor very effective, clear and concise.
P. Brain
Nick was very informative and enthusiastic
D. Bell
The tutor had excellent presentation skills and was very helpful
R. Grattidge
Thoroughly enjoyed course, all questions answered
comprehensively. Thanks.
M. Goddard
Nick was highly effective - linked the material
into work undertaken back at the unit. Excellent presentation style.
M. Owsley
Tutor was very effective. The applications were
explained in detail, the tutor did not just take us through the training
manual and he ensured we understood what we were doing.
J. Worrell
Thoroughly enjoyed the course. At first rather
daunting but with guidance and good explanation everything became clear.
Anon
Very good course, well presented and adapted to
individual requirements.
S. Hacker
Nick was an excellent trainer who pitched the course
at the right level, with good humour and patience. Well worth the two days.
